Hello!
We welcome you to our site. We want to tell you a little about us and how we came to be. . . So grab something to drink, get comfy and read on
***.All of the birds on this page are birds we have taken in and re-homed. They are NOT available for adoption. They have their forever homes and are well cared for.***
We began bird rescue when we saved our first cockatiel from the humane society of St. Joe County. She was a normal grey but we fell in love instantly. She was beautiful, came with cage and was vicious. We took her home and worked with her for the longest time. She eventually sat on our finger, ate treats from our hands and would ride on our shoulder. Her name was Lucy. She was our sweetheart and we loved her with every fiber of our bodies. She passed on of old age and we buried her in the back yard. We still have the gravemarker where she lies.
We then went on to take in other birds. Some intentionally and some because we were asked to.
Sometimes we grew to attatched to a bird to let them go. So we kept them as a family pet. But for the most part, we found loving homes for each and every bird that comes thru our home.
Our hearts get involved, intwined and even broke at times. Sometimes there are birds you just can not help. Sometimes the situations you see are heart wrenching and make you cringe. Sometimes you wonder why people are parting with the bird. Sometimes you think - Why does this bird have to suffer so? Yet each and every time, we step up and help out the bird(s) in need and we make sure they get the care they need and deserve.
Once in a while you get a bird that is just to hurt to re-home or just to old to re-home. Sometimes you just need them to go where they can remain for their remaining lifetime without pain, suffering or cruelty. That has been the case with a few birds. Lucky was our first case of abuse - and it shocked us to see how cruel the world can be. We took him in and were shocked at the amount of damage done to this poor innocent creature. His wounds were so bad that the vet we have could do nothing for him. He was re-homed to a man who had all day to spend with him and nothing better to do then love him. He was beaten with a baseball bat by one of his previous owners. Pic below of Lucky.

Remember how I said sometimes you wonder how people could give up a bird and it lies in the back of your mind their reasons? Papoo was one of those birds. I wondered why someone would hand over such a loving, friendly bird that as in such bood shape. But yet her owner had her reasons - I am not there to judge - Just to help out. Papoo was our Angel of birds. She was beautiful - until a mishap happened. Picture below.
We let a local family foster Papoo. She was happy there and foing well. We were monitoring this family and Papoo. One day we went to do a regular home visit and the bird, along with cage, toys and accessories was gone. We found out she had sold her to someone unauthorized. It was a great loss to everyone involved. Trust me - steps were taken to prosecute and also to prevent this from happening again.
