C&G Bird Rescue and Adoption Services

No bird goes without in our home!

Adoption Policies

We love the birds we take in and grow very close to each and every one of them. Each bird is our personal goal and friend. The goal being to make sure that bird recieves the best in everything it needs which includes but is not limited to:

  • vet care thru our avian vet
  • diet (all birds will be transitioned to a Kaytee All Natural Pellet diet that will be supplemented with fresh fruit, vegetables, legumes, pasta and whole grains)
  • exercise
  • cage with stand
  • taming
  • grooming
  • loving care
  • toys
  • and finding their permanent family where they will remain throughout the rest of their birdie lives.

Each family is screened to the best of our abilities. We are not perfect nor do we claim to be. However we are very sure that we try our darndest to make sure each bird finds a forever home where it shall not be bred, used as animal food/bait or used in any way other than a loving forever family pet. So when it comes to our adoption process, we are quite strict and very thorough. We apologize if we seem a bit harsh, invasive or inquisitive. We only want the best for the birds that we take so much time and pride in.

Each family shall be screened and made sure that they can meet our qualifications when we are involved in finding a bird to fit their home and lifestyle.  We believe that each bird chooses it's person and that is how we operate when adopting out a bird. Each family that wishes to adopt a bird will have to go through our application process (and yes it can be long and grueling at times) but we want the best for everyone involved. We do not wish to adopt out a bird only to have it returned 2 months later as it screams too much.

Each family will be asked to fill out the following forms when wanting to adopt a feathered friend for their family. . . .

  • Family History (this includes any children in the home, other pets, work hours, space allowed for the pet to be adopted, etc. )
  • Written letter of Vet Reference (Must be a vet you are currently using or one you have used in the past 12 months)
  • Written letters of reference from 3 people who can tell us about you and your qualities - Good, bad and such
  • Adoption Application (tells us what you are looking for, bird history, pet history and such.)
  • Signed agreement stating that if the adoption does not work out for any readon that the bird will be returned to us no questions asked.

We do not ship any birds. People are required to make sure that when choosen for a bird owner of a bird in our possession that they come to pick up the bird with the following supplies in hand. . .

  • A carrier large enough to hold the bird comfortably so that the bird can lay down or move comfortably while traveling.
  • A towel to be placed at the bottom of the carrier so that the bird does not slide.
  • Food and a small water bottle for the birds journey home.
  • All paperwork filled out completely (most will be turned in upon first interview)
  • the full adoption fee (this must be in cash or a Postal Money Order - No Other pyament accepted.)
